As part of my internship at Factory 1611, I designed characters and backgrounds for Esplanade’s Annual Report. As Singapore's national performing arts centre, the Esplanade hosts a wide range of events. Characters were designed based on 5 key event categories frequently held at this space: concerts, theatre, dance, festivals, and family shows.
With stylistic guidance from the team at Factory 1116, these characters and backgrounds were incorporated as section dividers throughout the report and later adapted into animated assets by the team.

Aside from the durian character (a reference to the Esplanade’s distinctive exterior), characters were designed to reflect a mixture of the aforementioned key event categories, through a combination of artistic motifs such as theatre seats, music notes, paintbrushes, etc.
