As part of my internship at Factory 1611, I designed characters and backgrounds for Esplanade’s Annual Report. As Singapore's national performing arts centre, the Esplanade hosts a wide range of events. Characters were designed based on 5 key event categories frequently held at this space: concerts, theatre, dance, festivals, and family shows.
With stylistic guidance from the team at Factory 1116, these characters and backgrounds were incorporated as section dividers throughout the report and later adapted into animated assets by the team.

Slide layouts were designed by the team at Factory, who also adviced me on the overall style for the character designs.
Aside from the durian character (a reference to the Esplanade’s distinctive exterior), characters were designed to reflect the aforementioned key event categories (concerts, theatre, dance, festivals, and family shows) through a combination of artistic motifs such as theatre seats, music notes, paintbrushes, etc.
