What do the things we send to space say about us?
To answer this question, a fictional courier service website set in the year 2084 was designed. Named In Memory of Us, it sends people's items to space and aims to archive humanity in the context of the world ending.
In Memory of Us is an interactive and introspective speculative web design experience, prompting viewers to participate and think about what they want to send to space. Through a simple question, it unpacks our deeper human desires and motivations for doing so.
1. Interactivity was considered in multiple aspects of the website. An example is this "Hover to read" section.
2. Custom code was embedded on ReadyMag to create an animated background with stars trailing after the cursor.
3. A "drag and drop" segment was also added, revealing hidden text.
4. Users can type what they want to send to space. Their answers are reflected as stars in the starry background using embedded code.
5. Users can also type down the reasons for their objects. Their answers are redirected to my email for future archiving.
6. In the final segment, you can hover over the stars to see what other people have answered.
